NEW! FOR YOUR GIFT OF ANY AMOUNT

As believers in Christ, God has given us the right to bear His name. We are children of the King, and this new identity is one of the greatest gifts God gives to all those who call upon the name of Jesus Christ.

Leading The Way

As children of God, there is no end to the blessings we receive.

Read John 1:12-18. In this passage we read that "those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God—children born not of natural descent, . . . but born of God" (John 1:12-13). The Truth is every person is a creation of God, but not every person is a child of God. Only those who receive Jesus, putting their faith in Him as their only Savior and Lord, can be called children of God.

With Christ's gift comes the forgiveness of all our sins—past, present, and future. Being a child of God means we are released from our guilt and given complete peace and reconciliation with God the Father. It means we can have contentment in this life and the assurance of eternity in heaven. It means we are co-heirs with Christ who share in our Heavenly Father's estate—and who also share in His glory (see Romans 8:17). We will even reign with Christ throughout eternity!

As children of God, there is no end to the blessings we receive. But perhaps the greatest gift of becoming a child of God is that the King of kings also becomes our Father (see Romans 8:15). As children of God, we do not serve a shrewd taskmaster, but a gracious God whose throne we can approach with confidence (see Hebrews 4:16). And when we enter heaven's gates, we will not be spending eternity in the presence of an aloof deity but an intimate God whose glory and love will leave us no shortage of "holies" to sing. Can you imagine any greater gift?

As we seek to buy and receive gifts this Christmas season, we must remember this ultimate gift that we have received from the hand of the Savior. He is calling us to celebrate and live more fully according to our identity in Christ once again.

Prayer: Father, thank You for the honor of being Your child, Your heir, for all eternity. Thank You for making me new and giving me Your very Spirit as a seal. May Christ in me shine through to others this Christmas and every day. I pray in the name of Jesus. Amen.

"The Spirit you received brought about your adoption to sonship. And by him we cry, 'Abba, Father'" (Romans 8:15).
