Save for Later

Relationships today are often strained by shallowness, adversity, or selfishness. Sometimes people want to be “fair-weather friends,” or to use a relationship for their own benefit. Michael Youssef examines the godly friendship of David and Jonathan in his six-part series, Godly Friendships, and points out the solid foundation of a close friendship and the building blocks to nurture a strong bond that honors God.

Godly Friendships (Part 5)

A Model of Loyalty

In this critical message, Dr. Michael Youssef calls today’s believers to recover a lost virtue: loyalty rooted in covenant. Drawing from 1 Samuel 19, he points to Jonathan’s unwavering loyalty to David—even in the face of death—as a model of godly friendship. True loyalty is not convenience-based, but covenant-bound. It stands firm through criticism, pressure, and disagreement because it is anchored in trust—first in God, then in others. The world scorns loyalty, but Scripture exalts it as a fruit of righteousness and a reflection of Christ. Jesus, our greatest Friend, remains faithful even when we falter. When you fully trust the Lord, you are equipped to trust and defend godly friends with courage, compassion, and conviction.
