NEW! FOR YOUR GIFT OF ANY AMOUNT

Yesterday we looked at the Holy Spirit gift of spiritual healing. Another type of healing is emotional healing. There is emotional healing power in our Savior. He alone has the power to heal shattered lives and broken hearts. Jesus alone can give us victory over the demonic forces we may have allowed into our lives through sin or a lack of repentance. Only Jesus can tear down the strongholds that our enemy has set up in our hearts. Jesus alone can set the captives free.

A third type of healing is physical healing. Examples of physical healing abound in the New Testament. In Matthew 9 alone, Jesus heals people who are deaf, paralyzed, mute, bleeding, and even dead.

God is sovereign over all His gifts and will do what is best for our good and for His glory.

What God did 2,000 years ago, He can still do today. His nature is unchanging. But God does not always heal right away. He did not immediately heal Epaphroditus or Trophimus (see Philippians 2:25-30 and 2 Timothy 4:20, respectively). We may not understand why Paul emerged from the shipwreck at Malta and used his gift to heal Publius' father on the spot but was not delivered from his own thorn mentioned in 2 Corinthians 12:5-10.

God is sovereign over all His gifts and will do what is best for our good and for His glory. We cannot begin to know His thoughts and how He will use everything for His divine purposes. God deals with no two people alike. For some, healing is instantaneous; for others, He will use doctors and extended periods of treatment and prayer. For a few, their complete healing will be in glory.

Prayer: God, I don't always understand Your ways, but I trust You today for emotional and physical healing as You see fit for my good and Your glory. I pray in the name of Jesus. Amen.

"He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners" (Isaiah 61:1).
