Seeking His Power

Tests and Trials

  • Scripture:
Without His power and might, we can do nothing!

The apostle Paul understood the daily power of God’s grace as he experienced his great thorn:

Three times I pleaded with the Lord to take it away from me. But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me. That is why, for Christ’s sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong. (2 Corinthians 12:8-10)

Not only is seeking the power of God pleasing to Him, but it also enables us to do His work and live abundantly.

We continually ask God to fill you with the knowledge of his will through all the wisdom and understanding that the Spirit gives, so that you may live a life worthy of the Lord and may please him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God, being strengthened with all power according to his glorious might so that you may have great endurance and patience, and giving joyful thanks to the Father, who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of his holy people in the kingdom of light. (Colossians 1:9-12)

Are you living a defeated life? Have you tried to become self-reliant and self-sufficient? Do you depend on your own human wisdom and ingenuity to navigate life? If so, God wants you to fully depend upon His power and might in your everyday life. You may acknowledge Him as the powerful Creator God, but He also wants you to know His power personally.

Without His power and might, we can do nothing.

Prayer: Mighty God, thank You for Your power that is available to me personally. Forgive me for the times I have worked in my own strength instead of finding my rest in You. Help me to depend on Your power today so that I can serve You and those You have put in my life. I pray in the name of Jesus. Amen.
