Read Revelation 21-22.
We have come to my favorite part of Scripture—the joy of believers in the new Jerusalem. Everything is new. There will be nothing to separate us from Jesus—no sin or disobedience to keep us from Him or to divide the family of God because we will be like our Lord (see 1 John 3:2). There will be a lot of nos in the new heaven and earth—no tears, no death, no mourning, no crying, no pain, no disease, no loneliness, no broken homes, and no broken hearts.
Then God provides an encouragement for believers and an offer to those who have yet to receive Him: “To the thirsty I will give water without cost from the spring of the water of life. Those who are victorious will inherit all this, and I will be their God and they will be my children” (Revelation 21:6-7). Our Creator alone can give you meaning and purpose as His child, a co-heir with Christ. Just consider the wonders of the new Jerusalem.
Lit from within by God’s glory, the Holy City measures 1,400 miles high, wide, and long. That’s like an expanse stretching from the Mississippi River to the Pacific Ocean—utterly enormous with plenty of room for those mansions Jesus went to prepare for His people (see John 14:2). The new Jerusalem shines with jasper, sapphire, emerald, amethyst, pure gold and more.
As beautiful as it will be, the most glorious part of this city will be the presence of God. There will be no temple, sun, or moon in the new Jerusalem because God Himself will be with us, illuminating everything (see Revelation 21:22-25).
Are you ready for the restoration of Eden where we will walk with God and enjoy the fruit of the tree of life (see Genesis 2:9, 3:22 and Revelation 22:2, 14)? Christ’s coming is near. The decisions we make in this life impact our eternity. That’s the reality that spurs me to urgently call everyone who has not come to Christ to come now.
There will be judgment for believers as well—not the judgment of condemnation but of rewards (see v. 12). We will be rewarded according to our faithfulness to the Lord, according to how much we sacrificed for the Kingdom of God. So let us today store up our treasure in heaven, looking forward to the day when we will reign and rule with Christ.
Prayer: Father, thank You for Your incredible grace. I pray in the name of Jesus. Amen.
