Save for Later

When many people hear the word disciple, they think only of the twelve who followed Jesus during His earthly ministry. Yet according to the Word of God, every believer who confesses Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord is called to be His disciple and to make disciples of others. But what marks a true disciple of Christ? In this four-part series, Dr. Michael Youssef turns to the inerrant Scriptures to answer that urgent question. Through the teachings of Jesus, he reveals the Biblical marks of genuine discipleship: unwavering loyalty to Christ, supernatural love that reflects His heart, and a life that imitates His sacrificial mission. In a culture that rejects Truth, believers must repent of complacency, depend on the Holy Spirit, and faithfully proclaim the Gospel. True disciples follow Jesus, live like Jesus, and point a desperate world to the saving power of His cross.

Whose Disciple? (Part 2)

The Cost of Loyalty to Christ

In Part 2 of Whose Disciple?, Dr. Michael Youssef confronts the false, self-centered message that has crept into many churches and contrasts it with the uncompromising words of Jesus. According to Scripture, a true disciple demonstrates absolute loyalty to Christ above family, possessions, and even self (Luke 14:25–33). The Lord does not promise an easy path but calls sinners to repentance, self-denial, and daily surrender. Because the Bible is the infallible Word of God, believers must take seriously Christ’s command to count the cost and follow Him without compromise. Genuine love for others flows from wholehearted devotion to Jesus, the divine Savior and King. When disciples submit fully to His authority, they are empowered to stand for Truth and faithfully carry out the Great Commission.
